Weve all read about them. Child prodigies who begin writing music at some amazingly young age. For instance, history states that Mozart was writing minuets by the age of 5 years old. Astounding. At five years of age, I am uncertain that I recognized the main difference between my finger and my thumb and I certainly was not crafting songs.
Now there is no doubt that the fact that Mozart was creating songs by the age of 5 does not mean that any of us ever could compose songs, but several studies conducted over the last 50 or so years suggests that the majority of children can commence composing music as long as they’re offered both direction and opportunity.
True, within the vast majority in the situations the end result is not going to rival anything that Mozart produced, but just since you (or your toddler) may well not be the best there has ever been at composing songs does not mean the attempt isn’t worth the effort. If we follow that reasoning why would a baby find out to walk or run when he or she knows he could in no way walk or run as well as, say, Michael Jordan? Why would they discover to talk if they knew they could in no way speak at the same time as Bill Clinton or Ronald Reagan?
